STERLING SILVER
Like pure gold, pure silver is simply too soft for many applications, an alloy of at least 92.5% silver is needed. Sterling Silver is an alloy of 92.5% or more.
GOLD FILLED
Gold filled uses a karat gold overlay which is then bonded to a brass inner core. Kamal Trading supplies gold filled with 1/20th karat gold, meaning, it is 5% karat gold by weight with a brass inner core. We offer 1/20 rose gold filled and 1/20 yellow gold filled.
SILVER FILLED
Silver filled uses a sterling silver overlay which is then bonded to a brass inner core. Kamal Trading supplies silver filled with 1/10 .925 silver, meaning, it is 10% .925 silver by weight with a brass core.
BRASS (WITH PLATING)
Brass is made with copper and zinc. Most of our brass is 90% copper, 10% zinc. It is then plated with gold, silver, gun metal, copper, rose gold.
ROLLED GOLD PLATE
Rolled gold plate is created using pressure to fuse a thin layer of gold onto a layer of base metal. The ratio of 14-karat gold to base metal (by weight) in this product is 1/60 (1.67%) or 1/3 that of comparable gold-filled findings.
